Col. Matthew Garvin most recently served at the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering where he oversaw the science and technology portfolio for positioning, navigation, and timing. In addition to his experience in technology development, Col. Garvin also served as a security cooperation officer at the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua.
Garvin holds a doctorate in applied physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in astronomy from the University of Virginia, and a master’s and bachelor’s degree in physics from Brigham Young University. Additionally, he holds a master’s degree in regional security studies with a focus on the Western Hemisphere from the Naval Postgraduate School.
